Session types offered

Adolescent therapy

I accept clients ages 13 through 17 for adolescent therapy.

Therapy for adolescents looks very similar to therapy for adult clients, and it also incorporates other modalities to focus on the Big Three: regulation, communication, and safety.

Caretakers often seek therapy for their adolescent child to tackle issues like anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, anger management, school stress, and interpersonal relationships. Therapy is a fantastic resource to provide your child with a safe space to process all the big things that are happening around them.

Teenagers are facing difficulties on a level of intensity unseen by previous generations. The pressures of social media, education requirements, self-image, and peer pressure are at an all-time high. They are coping in the only way that they know how, and they often need guidance on healthier, more adaptive coping.

Therapy is not meant as a disciplinary tool or to “fix” a teenager. Therapy is designed to help the client understand their maladaptive behaviors and discover alternatives to processing the big emotions they are experiencing every day.

If you are a caretaker and interested in being more involved with your teenager’s therapy journey, I highly recommend a monthly Family therapy session in order to maintain the confidentiality between therapist and teen client.

Individual therapy

I accept clients 18+ for individual therapy.

Individuals seek therapy for a myriad of reasons: a recent life change, processing grief, managing daily life, and more. There is no problem “too small” or “too big” to tackle in therapy. All paths that lead to a more peaceful, comfortable life are worth taking.

Therapy is sometimes a fear-inducing experience for individuals who have never been, and it can be difficult to know what to expect. I use tools and interventions from multiple modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and more. This allows me to tailor your treatment personally to your needs.

Session will sometimes include talking, and other times it may include an art-based activity. Sessions may include writing a story or completing a reflection via worksheet. Sessions will sometimes include tears, and other times they will include laughs.

At the end of the day, therapy will not repair your car, but it will fill your tool box. Therapy will not banish the monsters from the closet, but it will turn on the light. Therapy will not hand you answers on what to do, but it will provide a completely nonjudgmental space for you to explore and learn more about yourself and your environment so that you can make the decisions that are best for you.

You already have all the strength inside of you.

Family therapy

Family therapy sessions aim to address the entire functional system rather than an individual. These sessions can be incredibly beneficial when working on repairing or improving interpersonal relationships within the family unit. Family therapy sessions can include a caregiver and a child, two caregivers without a child, siblings, and more.

Imagine trying to solve a puzzle with one singular puzzle piece. It’s hard to know which way is up, if it needs to be rotated, or where it even belongs in the big picture. Family therapy allows us to bring all pieces to the table and figure out where the pieces fit best. It’s not about changing the pieces or making them different; it’s about understanding.

For families with custody, guardianship, or adoption involvement, I will require necessary paperwork detailing decision-making rights.
